Neeraj Chopra made an indelible mark in Indian athletics as he clinched the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships hosted in Budapest, Hungary. Widely hailed as the ‘golden boy of Indian athletics,’ he etched his name in history by becoming the inaugural Indian athlete to secure a gold medal at this prestigious championship.
On the early morning of August 28, Neeraj achieved something truly remarkable. Engaging in a fierce competition against athletes from all corners of the world, he showcased extraordinary skill by achieving an impressive throw of 88.17 meters on his second attempt. This achievement not only rightfully awarded Neeraj the gold medal but also positioned him as a pioneer, representing Indian sports on an international scale.

Neeraj Chopra Secures His Second Diamond League Title of the Year with a Standout Throw of 87.66m

In an impressive feat, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan closely followed Neeraj’s achievement, securing a well-earned silver medal. Nadeem, who had previously showcased his talent on the Commonwealth Games stage, achieved a remarkable throw of 87.82 meters.
Claiming the third position on the podium was Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic, who displayed his prowess with a standout throw of 86.67 meters.
Satish Kumar, Neeraj’s father, visibly brimming with pride at his son’s accomplishment, shared with ANI, “This moment fills our country with immense pride as we achieve a gold medal in the World Championship. We eagerly await Neeraj’s return to India so we can celebrate this joyous occasion.”
